Dekin no Mogura

The ordinary rhythms of university life shatter for classmates Maki and Yaeko when a man collapses before them, the victim of a bizarre accident: a copy of the Kōjien dictionary has plummeted from a clear sky and struck him square on the head. Though blood streams from the wound, the stranger flatly refuses their pleas for an ambulance or police intervention, his demeanor laced with an indefinable wrongness that sets every nerve on edge. Before they can process the sheer absurdity of the event—or his unsettling refusal of help—the man vanishes into the crowd, leaving the two women stranded in a reality that has suddenly begun to warp. From that moment forward, Maki and Yaeko find themselves haunted by inexplicable visions bleeding into their everyday world. Shadows move with intention, familiar landscapes twist into alien geometry, and the line between perception and madness blurs with each passing hour. Whatever curse or contagion the injured man carried has now latched onto them, pulling the pair into a surreal conspiracy that defies all logic. As the strange phenomena escalate and the memory of that falling dictionary becomes an omen rather than an accident, the two students realize that their chance encounter was no misfortune—it was an invitation to a nightmare they cannot escape, and from which no one is coming to rescue them.
