Rokushiki Tensou Ataraxia

Bullied relentlessly by her classmates, Shigure Konno endures a daily existence of isolation and quiet suffering. That torment, however, becomes the catalyst for a profound and terrifying transformation. One fateful day, Shigure finds herself forcibly ejected from her own body, awakening to an ethereal existence that allows her to drift unseen through the spirit world. From this intangible vantage, she gains the ability to peer directly into the minds of others, unearthing their hidden fears, secret desires, and most guarded memories—and, far more dangerously, she discovers she can reach in and rewire their very thoughts. As her power takes root, the subtle poisons of malice and distrust she sows within seemingly ordinary citizens begin to bloom into shocking and grotesque incidents, plunging her world into a spiral of psychological chaos. This work marks celebrated creator Kago's third iteration of his signature premise—a young woman entering a cyberspace-like psychic dimension to "hack" the human psyche. He first explored this territory in the 1992 serial *Soul Diver Saga: Nirvana*, which was cut short after only three chapters when its publisher, Bandai's *Cyber Comix*, ceased operations. A significantly tamer one-shot simply titled *ataraxia* followed in 1995 via *Young Jump*, later collected in *Hannya Haramita*, before Kago returned to the concept with this far more explicit and elaborate expansion, serialized across 2000 and 2001. Fans of his interconnected universe will also recognize several characters from these pages making cameo appearances in other works, many of which are compiled in the collection *Super-Dimensional Love Gun*.
