Summary

Official Details
In the desolate ruins of a once-verdant Japan, a sinister gale carries an airborne blight that reduces all it touches—living flesh and cold metal alike—to crumbling, reddish-brown corrosion. This devastating rust plague has transformed the nation into a vast, arid wasteland, and the terrified populace largely blames the proliferation of malevolent mushroom spores for the catastrophe. Hounded as a scapegoat for this apocalyptic decay is Bisco Akaboshi, a rogue archer notorious under the chilling epithet "Man-Eating Mushroom." His fearsome reputation stems from his deadly quiver: arrows that, upon striking any surface, instantly erupt with clusters of rapidly growing fungi, marking him as one of the most wanted outlaws in the remaining settlements. Yet Bisco's true purpose stands in stark opposition to his monstrous alias. Far from being an agent of ruin, he is a clandestine "Mushroom Protector"—a guardian who deliberately sows fungal life across the barren plains. He understands that these resilient organisms are nature's only hope, capable of breaking down the pervasive rust, enriching the exhausted soil, and eventually coaxing greenery back from the dust. In a world driven mad by fear of the very spores he champions, his benevolent mission is tragically mistaken for terrorism. Pursued by authorities and shunned by the desperate survivors he seeks to save, Bisco must wield his outlawed art not to destroy the remnants of civilization, but to orchestrate a silent, spore-driven revolution that could reclaim the planet's future from the jaws of decay.
