Sakuta and his father, Renji, set out on a quiet but deeply personal journey to the island of Shikoku, carrying with them the lingering hope of finding a woman who has been absent far too long. Their destination is an old, historically rich town, where every cobblestone and weathered building holds echoes of a past they once shared as a family. At the center of it all stands a house brimming with faded photographs, familiar scents, and the kind of warmth that only memories can provide—yet its most important occupant is nowhere to be found. Somewhere within these winding streets and silent shrines, Sakuta’s mother has vanished into a labyrinth of recollection, and the father and son are determined to trace her unseen footsteps. As they navigate the tranquil yet melancholic landscapes of Shikoku, each encounter and each forgotten corner of the town slowly pieces together the fragments of a life that once was. The journey is not merely a search for a lost woman, but a pilgrimage through the family’s shared history, forcing both Sakuta and Renji to confront the grief, love, and unspoken questions that have long lingered between them. With every mile traveled and every memory unearthed, the true meaning of “home” begins to shift and reveal itself. At the end of this tender road, hidden beneath the layers of time and absence, lies not just the answer to where she has gone, but the quiet, profound resolution the family has been yearning for all along.
