A Tail's Tale

Nachi Hiyama has always felt like an outsider on her own softball team. While her teammates bond under the sun, their skin warming to a healthy bronze after every practice, Nachi remains stubbornly fair, a visible marker of difference that deepens her growing sense of isolation. The more she tries to fit in, the more she feels her efforts fall short, leaving her discouraged and alone on the fringes of a group she desperately wants to call her own. Everything changes when she crosses paths with Utsumi, a quiet and painfully shy boy from her school who seems to understand her loneliness all too well. Their tentative connection takes an unexpected turn when Nachi stumbles upon his most guarded secret: hidden beneath his clothes is a tail, a physical anomaly he has spent his life concealing from the world. Rather than recoiling in shock, Nachi recognizes a kindred spirit. In Utsumi, she finds someone whose very existence challenges the boundaries of normalcy, and in her, he finds a person who looks past his secret to see the person within. Bound by their shared experience of being different, they discover that their individual quirks are not weaknesses, but the very things that make their friendship extraordinary. Together, they learn that standing out doesn't have to mean standing alone.
