For a full millennium, the Demon King reigned over all of demonkind, wielding overwhelming power to keep the human race in oppression until the age of man ended and the age of demons began. That mighty title has now passed from father to son, and the young Lucifer inherits his father's throne. Yet the new Demon King wants nothing to do with war—he would far rather live in harmony with humanity, and the mere sight of blood turns his stomach. Peace, however, remains out of reach. Because the location of the Demon King's castle is common knowledge, assassins arrive in an endless stream, each one determined to take his life. Desperate for escape, Lucifer abandons his fortress and retreats into the wilderness, hoping to vanish somewhere no human will ever find him—or so he believes. Back in human lands, patience has finally run dry. Every man of power sent against the Demon King has been defeated, and with all other options exhausted, humanity stakes everything on one final gambit: a lone girl dispatched to end his life. How will the gentle, blood-fearing Lucifer deal with this beautiful killer sent to destroy him?
