For 3.5 billion years, Lee Jain has lived and died on Earth, cycling through countless incarnations as one animal species after another. Each death gave way to new life, and each life left its mark — until, at long last, he arrives at what he knows to be his final rebirth. Jain awakens in South Korea as a human: the one species he has come to despise above all others. Yet he does not enter this world empty-handed. Within him dwell the extraordinary powers of every creature he has ever been. Armed with these abilities and burning with an ancient hatred, he resolves to survive at all costs — and to erase humanity from existence. To a being who has witnessed the world's entire history, humankind is the one species he cannot forgive. Then fate intervenes. A sudden car accident wipes his memory clean, and in its aftermath, Jain crosses paths with beings unlike any he has ever known. Caught between what he once was and what he may yet become, he is forced to confront the ultimate question: is humanity truly worth saving, or is it destined for extinction after all?
