Full Drum is a rugby-themed manga centered on Hino, a high school boy whose athletic shortcomings have earned him an unfortunate reputation. Despite his repeated attempts to participate in school life, he has been systematically dismissed from every club he has tried to join. Driven by a rather superficial motivation, Hino’s primary goal in joining a sports team is not a genuine passion for competition, but rather the hope that wearing a club uniform will finally make him popular with girls. His string of rejections seems destined to continue until a chance encounter changes his trajectory entirely. One day, Hino crosses paths with Ayako, the manager of the school's rugby club. Instantly captivated by her, his shallow ambitions are suddenly redirected by a powerful infatuation. Completely mesmerized and determined to be near her, Hino resolves to do whatever it takes to secure a spot on the team. Setting aside his history of failure and his complete lack of natural sporting talent, Hino commits himself to the demanding world of rugby. His journey transforms from a misguided attempt to impress his peers into a dedicated pursuit fueled by his fascination with Ayako, as he steps onto the pitch hoping to finally find a place where he belongs.
