Walking in Your Tracks

Confined to a wheelchair, novelist Ren Kisaki has spent his life in deliberate isolation. Overwhelmed by constant assistance and deeply resentful of his own perceived limitations, he has systematically driven away everyone who attempts to support him. His hostility has become so entrenched that even his most dedicated caregivers have nearly abandoned hope of reaching him. For years, Ren has existed entirely on his own terms, convinced that meaningful human connection is something he neither deserves nor requires. Everything shifts when Rintaro Maki, a newly assigned caregiver, arrives at his door. Unlike those who came before him, Rintaro possesses a rare combination of warmth and insight. He refuses to define Ren solely by his physical condition, choosing instead to engage with the man behind the disability. This genuine perception offers Ren a kind of emotional intimacy he had long believed was beyond his reach. Slowly, Ren begins to lower the walls he built around himself, stepping outside the boundaries of his solitary existence. As he learns to trust Rintaro, he discovers an unexpected reservoir of inner strength. This newfound courage empowers him to finally face the painful truths of his past and, for the very first time, actively pursue a future defined by his own narrative.
