After surviving a fatal train wreck, Sekai Maihime finds herself thrust back in time to 17th century France, where she discovers she possesses hidden powers connected to a mysterious doll known as 'S.' With the aid of Sovieul, 'S's enigmatic and kind guardian, Sekai must navigate this unfamiliar world while uncovering the secrets behind her newfound abilities. However, their journey is soon disrupted by the appearance of Machiavello, a figure who bears a striking resemblance to Sekai's childhood friend and love, Midou. Driven by a desire to claim the powers shared by Sekai and 'S' and obtain the power of the Devil R, Machiavello relentlessly pursues Sekai, forcing her to constantly evade his grasp. As Sekai struggles to find Midou and return to her own time, she must also contend with the conflicting desires that arise from her bond with 'S,' all while cooperating with Sovieul to traverse through time and outwit the formidable Machiavello.
