Ayaru Kagami, a second-year high school student, has never once been called by his given name. The kanji used to write “Ayaru” is so obscure and difficult to read that no one has ever spoken it aloud, leaving a quiet distance between him and everyone around him. Then, one day, he falls in love with Kyono Chinzei, a girl in the Shodo Club. Desperate to get closer to her, Ayaru joins the Shodo Club himself. There, amid brushes, ink, and paper, his feelings for Kyono begin to grow, and the club becomes the setting for a new chapter in his life. What starts as a simple attempt to reach the girl he loves slowly turns into a story written in ink. As Ayaru pursues Kyono and struggles to bridge the gap between them, the pages of his adolescence fill with romance, youthful longing, and the art of shodo.
