His spacecraft crashes en route to the moon, leaving him adrift and stranded in the void for an entire year. By the time he is finally rescued and returned to Earth, he discovers a devastating reality: eleven years have elapsed on his home planet during his absence. The world he once knew has moved forward without him, forcing him to navigate a deeply unfamiliar society while simultaneously battling the severe psychological trauma of his prolonged isolation in space.
