Eight years ago, a young girl named Kaori vanished without a trace while playing hide-and-seek in the forest with her friend Shuhei. Her disappearance coincided with the sudden emergence of mysterious phenomena known as "labyrinths," which began materializing in random locations across the world. As these anomalous structures continued to appear, an alarming number of people were swallowed by them, driving a steady increase in unexplained missing persons cases. Haunted by guilt over his inability to save Kaori during that fateful game, Shuhei has spent nearly a decade burdened by her loss. He harbors a deep conviction that he deserves to be pulled into one of the labyrinths himself, viewing it as both penance and the only path to finding his long-lost friend. His lingering remorse finally finds a direction when he unexpectedly discovers an entrance to one of these enigmatic spaces.
