Neo-Tokyo is spiraling into chaos as a dangerous new wave of super-drugs floods the streets, granting users terrifying enhancements to both their physical and mental capabilities. As crime rates surge in response to these chemically augmented criminals, federal authorities are forced to adapt. Hajime Tsukomo, a newly recruited officer on a specialized task force, finds himself thrust directly into this escalating conflict. His unit has been specifically trained to track down and neutralize offenders who have weaponized these illicit substances, but the sheer power of their targets makes every operation a matter of life and death. To gain an edge against such formidable adversaries, Hajime is assigned an unlikely partner: Zeroichi. Known as a "Hanger," Zeroichi is an incarcerated criminal offered a precarious bargain—assist the task force in dismantling the drug-fueled underworld in exchange for a reduced prison sentence. Bound together by necessity rather than trust, the idealistic recruit and the self-serving convict must navigate a volatile alliance. As they hunt down chemically boosted syndicates tearing Neo-Tokyo apart, Hajime must rely on a man whose motives remain as unpredictable as the enhanced enemies they face.
