A tight-knit circle of childhood friends is forever shattered when a tragic accident claims the life of young Meiko "Menma" Honma. Unable to process their shared grief, the group slowly fractures, with each member drifting away from the others as the years pass. The pain of that loss leaves deep scars, ultimately severing the bonds they once believed were unbreakable. Among them, Jinta Yadomi—once the confident leader who held the group together—suffers the most profound transformation. Now an older teenager, he has completely withdrawn from society, abandoning his education and social life to exist as a recluse confined within the walls of his home. His isolated world is abruptly disrupted when an older version of Menma suddenly appears before him. Though she remains a spirit tethered to the living world, she carries no memory of why she has returned. Menma reveals only that she has an unfulfilled wish keeping her bound to this plane, yet the exact nature of that desire remains entirely unknown even to her. To grant her peace and finally lay her soul to rest, Jinta must confront the trauma he has long avoided and reach out to the estranged friends he left behind.
