Li Lingdao is a professional exorcist who makes his living by carrying out ghost-expelling missions. During one such assignment, he encounters Yu Xi, a female ghost on the verge of fading away. Unlike other restless spirits, she has been actively protecting herself from the murderous intent of departed souls. Rather than banishing her soul as expected, Li Lingdao chooses to bring her back to his apartment, where he heals her injuries and allows her to reside with him in peace. While Li Lingdao continues to leave home to handle various supernatural cases, their quiet arrangement quickly draws unwanted attention. A host of malicious ghosts begin targeting Yu Xi, driven by a desire to claim a powerful artifact known as the soul jade she possesses. As Li Lingdao steps in to defend her against these relentless attacks, a complex bond forms between the exorcist and the spirit he shelters. Through their shared struggles and the escalating dangers they face together, the hidden truths surrounding Yu Xi’s past and the true nature of her existence are gradually brought to light.
