The Love of Calendula

For five long years, Shuto has harbored a deep and secret affection for Chihiro, his cousin and next-door neighbor. Despite the undeniable bond they share as family and childhood companions, Shuto is acutely aware that his romantic feelings are fraught with complications. He knows that pursuing another man—especially one so closely tied to him by blood—could only lead to heartache and ruin. Yet, no amount of rational thinking can suppress the intensity of his longing. Unable to contain his emotions any longer, Shuto crosses a forbidden line by stealing a kiss from his sleeping cousin, later retreating into his own private desires to cope with the overwhelming weight of his unrequited love. However, the fragile illusion of secrecy shatters when Chihiro unexpectedly catches Shuto in the act. Rather than reacting with disgust or rejection, the discovery forces an honest confrontation between the two young men. What Shuto initially believed was a hopeless, one-sided obsession suddenly begins to shift.
