Uminari is a compelling anthology of four interconnected short stories exploring the complex romantic lives of adult men. In "The Sound of the Sea," an ordinary high school student named Shougo lives in a quiet coastal port town until his world shifts dramatically when Asano, his new art teacher, moves into his home. As they live together, Shougo develops an intense and unfamiliar longing for the older man, stirring emotions as turbulent and unpredictable as a storm at sea. Meanwhile, "Moon on the 16th Night" follows Shuu, a mature man seeking stability, and his younger lover Kazui, who prefers a carefree lifestyle. Their relationship faces unexpected strain when a newcomer named Kohei enters their circle, sparking Shuu's suspicions and forcing both men to confront difficult questions about honesty and trust. The collection continues with "Shared Key," which centers on Arisawa and Yuki, a couple who move in together hoping to deepen their intimacy. Instead, demanding careers and conflicting schedules slowly build an emotional wall between them, proving that cohabitation is far more challenging than they anticipated. Finally, "Last Kiss" follows Kouichi and Mamoru, two fathers who have been inseparable friends since childhood.
