Bread & Butter

At thirty-four years old, Yuzuki finds herself adrift in a life that seems to be unraveling at every turn. She has no romantic partner, and her position at the elementary school where she works is hanging by a thread, leaving her on the verge of dismissal. With no clear direction or purpose guiding her future, she makes the difficult decision to resign from her job. Hoping for a fresh start, she even attempts to pursue an arranged marriage, but this effort ultimately ends in disappointment, deepening her sense of uncertainty. Amidst this mounting turmoil, Yuzuki discovers an unexpected source of solace: the simple pleasure of eating bread purchased from a small stationery store just around the corner. This quiet comfort becomes her sole anchor during a period defined by personal and professional failure. Driven by a sudden impulse born from exhaustion and longing for stability, she asks the shop's owner to marry her. To her complete astonishment, he accepts the spontaneous proposal, setting the stage for an unconventional new chapter in her life.
