Summer Wars

Kenji Koiso is a timid eleventh-grader with an extraordinary gift for mathematics. When Natsuki, an older student he secretly admires, invites him to her family’s estate in Nagano for a summer job, he accepts without hesitation. The Jinnouchi clan, whose lineage stretches back to the Muromachi era, has gathered to celebrate the ninetieth birthday of their spirited matriarch, Sakae. Upon arrival, Kenji discovers the true nature of his employment: he must pose as Natsuki’s fiancé and dance alongside her during the festivities. While struggling to maintain this elaborate charade before her sprawling family, Kenji receives a cryptic mathematical problem on his cell phone. Unable to resist the challenge, he solves the equation, inadvertently triggering a catastrophic event that causes a bizarre parallel world to collide with Earth. Now, the young math prodigy must join forces with his newly acquired fake family to untangle the chaos and restore reality before both worlds are irrevocably destroyed.
