Disgaea

After awakening from a two-year slumber, the young demon Laharl discovers that his father has died. Rather than mourning, he immediately sets out to claim the vacant throne and rule the Netherworld with an iron fist. Though inexperienced as an Overlord, Laharl is determined to become the greatest ruler his realm has ever known. To achieve this ambitious goal, he relies on the assistance of Etna, a cunning demon girl, and Flonne, a well-meaning but naive angel. However, securing dominion over the underworld proves to be far more perilous than anticipated. Laharl must constantly fend off hordes of dim-witted hellions eager to challenge him for the crown. Beyond these relentless rivals, he finds himself entangled in a dangerous interdimensional conspiracy that threatens everything. Complicating matters further, he cannot even fully trust his own inner circle, as his vassals frequently scheme to assassinate him. Surrounded by enemies on all sides, Laharl faces a brutal path to power where survival and sovereignty demand constant vigilance.
