Gifuu Doudou!!: Naoe Kanetsugu - Maeda Keiji Hanagatari

Sixteenth-century Japan was consumed by the chaos of the Sengoku Period, an era defined by ruthless warlords battling for absolute dominion. Amid this turmoil, the Uesugi Clan stood as the steadfast protectors of Echigo Province. At the heart of their ranks served Naoe Kanetsugu, the illegitimate son of his liege lord, Uesugi Kenshin—a formidable leader who had sworn a vow of lifelong celibacy. In an age shadowed by betrayal and political scheming, Kanetsugu remained a rare figure of integrity, striving to uphold righteousness in a world steeped in darkness. The fragile balance of power shattered in 1598 with the death of the regent Toyotomi Hideyoshi. His passing plunged the nation into a bitter war of succession, pitting Tokugawa Ieyasu against Ishida Mitsunari in a desperate struggle for control. These escalating tensions set the stage for the bloodiest confrontation in Japanese history: the Battle of Sekigahara. This is the epic tale of fiercely passionate men who lived and died by the unyielding code of honor.
