However, his meticulously planned fresh start hits an unexpected snag when he collides with Kurai Kako, a former classmate who was just as unnoticed during their middle school days. Like him, Kako has undergone a dramatic transformation for the exact same reason. She arrives at their new school fully determined to make her mark, specifically by securing a boyfriend before the year is out. Recognizing each other’s shared past and identical ambitions, the two decide to turn their fresh starts into a friendly rivalry. They strike a bet to see who can achieve their romantic goal first—Shinjou finding a girlfriend, or Kako landing a boyfriend. As they navigate the unfamiliar hallways and social hierarchies of high school, their competition sets the stage for an unpredictable journey where both must rely on their brand-new personas to win.
