Memento Mori

Meme is a well-meaning but somewhat scatterbrained young woman working part-time at a funeral parlor. The solemn nature of the establishment demands precision and decorum, qualities that do not always come naturally to her. Her daily struggles are compounded by the presence of Kurokawa, her highly strict supervisor, who holds her to exacting standards. Navigating the delicate environment of the parlor while constantly falling short of Kurokawa’s expectations proves to be an overwhelming challenge for Meme, creating a tense and difficult dynamic between the two coworkers. However, as they continue to work side by side in this quiet, reflective setting, the rigid boundaries between them begin to soften. Through shared experiences and gradual understanding, Meme and Kurokawa start to look beyond their initial impressions of one another. As they take the time to truly get to know each other, both individuals find themselves confronting unresolved chapters of their own histories. What begins as a strained professional relationship slowly transforms into a meaningful connection, allowing them to support one another as they finally learn to come to terms with the burdens of their pasts.
