Yanagi to Hana

Seventeen-year-old Kou has always lived life on her own terms. A fiercely independent and free-spirited teenager residing in Tokyo with her father, she is accustomed to an unrestrained existence where she answers to no one. However, a sudden shift in her father's circumstances forces her to spend the summer away from home. She is sent to Kyoto to stay with Midori Ando, the closest friend of her late mother, stepping into a world entirely unlike her own. Midori leads a quiet, disciplined life as a dedicated practitioner of the traditional tea ceremony. Her serene and structured household stands in stark contrast to Kou’s wild nature, setting the stage for inevitable friction. As the two navigate their shared living space, their differing worldviews collide, yet this tension slowly gives way to a profound mutual fascination. Beneath the surface of their daily clashes, Midori's gentle influence begins to stir something deep within Kou's guarded heart. Set against the atmospheric backdrop of Kyoto, their summer together becomes a transformative journey defined by both conflict and quiet revelation. Yanagi to Hana is a poignant coming-of-age story that delicately captures the emotional transition from carefree girlhood to the threshold of adulthood.
