Panic World

Takashi Shiki is a ronin student with no prospects and nothing going for him. His mundane life takes a sudden, jarring turn when he spots fighter planes streaking across the sky and discovers the body of a man who has been fatally shot in the head. By the following day, military tanks begin rolling through the streets, signaling that something catastrophic is unfolding. Amidst this growing chaos, a mysterious young woman named Yuki Kitano appears and begins accompanying Shiki. Simultaneously, he is offered a surprisingly lucrative job to watch over his wealthy neighbor's mansion. However, this sudden stroke of good fortune proves to be far too perfect. As the military presence intensifies and the reality of his situation sets in, the unsettling truth behind these events becomes terrifyingly clear to Shiki. The strange occurrences are not isolated incidents but the harbingers of global conflict, and the Third World War is on the verge of beginning. This anthology also features three additional stories: "Yakou Toshi no Mirai," following Adachi in a sunless city who meets a girl named Mirai seeking a flower from the world above; "Death Bird 4444," written by Buronson under the pen name Shou Fumimura; and "Kiiroi Usagi."
