Houkago no Salome

"Can you help me paint after school?" With this simple invitation from his classmate Naomi, Renji finds himself drawn into the quiet solitude of an unused art storage room, silently serving as her assistant. Naomi is a sudden transfer student who recently arrived at their prestigious art high school in Osaka, bringing with her an ominous and undeniable talent. For Renji, a gifted and fiercely hardworking young artist accustomed to being the pride of his peers, her arrival shatters everything he believed about his own abilities. Though he initially masks his shock by boasting that he could easily replicate her work, he soon realizes he is entirely captivated by her artistic brilliance. Torn between his fragile ego and a deepening inferiority complex, Renji writhes in emotional turmoil as he struggles to define what Naomi truly means to him—is she merely a rival, or something far more profound? Together, they spend their afternoons producing eccentric, deeply sensual works of art that blur the lines between competition and devotion. Crafted by a brilliant newcomer, Houkago no Salome is a striking exploration of youth, obsession, and the consuming nature of artistic creation.
