*Empire of the Ants* is a fantasy manga set in a unique kingdom governed by a single queen ant. In this realm, an individual's social standing is strictly determined by their physical structure. Beneath the absolute rule of the queen, society is divided into distinct classes: the "worker ants," who serve as commoners carrying out assigned labor, and the "army ants," who hold the nation's most important titles and serve as knights. The story follows Lulya, a young commoner boy who works at a local drugstore. Despite his humble occupation, he endures constant mistreatment and humiliation from those around him. However, his difficult daily life takes a drastic turn when he is suddenly imprisoned within the castle's dungeons for reasons unknown. Thrust from the margins of society into the heart of the kingdom's stronghold, Lulya must now navigate a perilous new reality where his fate rests entirely in the hands of the ruling class.
