Shadow Season

In a single day, an inexplicable event disrupts the daily lives of Tokyo’s youth when exactly 430 transfer students simultaneously enroll in every high school across the city. These newcomers share a striking and unsettling trait: an eerie, almost unnatural beauty that immediately commands attention. Rather than integrating normally, they move through the hallways in silence, systematically targeting specific classmates—those who harbor deep, hidden “shadows” within their hearts. As these mysterious students begin to infiltrate the emotional vulnerabilities of their chosen targets, a chilling atmosphere takes hold of the schools. No one can determine where the transfers came from, what binds them together, or what ultimate goal drives their coordinated invasion. Their true identities remain entirely obscured, leaving both the affected students and the surrounding populace trapped in a state of mounting paranoia. What follows is a tense descent into uncertainty as the boundaries between ordinary adolescence and psychological manipulation blur completely. Crafted by acclaimed writer Toshiki Inoue, this dark and unpredictable thriller explores the terrifying consequences of confronting the shadows we hide within ourselves, all while an unknown force quietly orchestrates the unraveling of an entire city.
