She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat

For Nomoto, cooking serves as a vital sanctuary from daily stress, offering a therapeutic escape through the careful preparation of meals. However, her passion often leads to a practical dilemma: she frequently prepares far more food than one person can reasonably consume. Living alone, she finds herself with an abundance of homemade dishes and no one to share them with, turning her beloved hobby into a source of unintended waste rather than pure comfort. This cycle changes when she extends a dinner invitation to Kasuga, a neighbor who also lives by herself. What begins as a simple solution to excess portions gradually evolves into something more meaningful as the two women share their table and time together. Through these shared meals, a quiet connection forms, transforming solitary routines into moments of warmth and companionship. The story explores how food becomes a bridge between two isolated lives, raising the question of what new understanding and relationship might emerge from this ongoing exchange of hospitality and nourishment.
