Like Mother, Like Daughter

So-Myeong Gil is a beautiful and brilliant young woman who has dedicated her entire existence to embodying her mother’s exacting vision of perfection. For years, she has strived tirelessly to meet these impossible standards, suppressing her own desires to become the ideal daughter. However, this carefully constructed facade shatters when her younger brother, who failed to live up to their mother's expectations, is found tragically drowned in a river. The devastating loss awakens a terrifying suspicion within So-Myeong that her mother may be responsible for this unspeakable crime, transforming her devotion into profound dread and forcing her to question everything she thought she knew about her family. From that moment forward, So-Myeong’s sole objective shifts from obedience to survival as she desperately seeks to escape her mother’s suffocating control. Yet, her mother remains obsessively determined to mold her into the perfect life she was once denied, viewing So-Myeong not as an individual but as a vessel for her own unfulfilled ambitions. This harrowing psychological struggle pits a daughter’s quest for autonomy against a parent’s toxic love, leaving So-Myeong trapped in a dangerous battle where the price of freedom might be higher than she can bear. Ultimately, she must navigate this treacherous dynamic to determine if true liberation is even possible.
