Sumire wa Blue

Sumire Kinoshita is a girl who drifts through her school days without participating in any extracurricular activities, quietly harboring a dislike even for her own name. Her unremarkable routine shifts unexpectedly during a visit to the library, where she first notices Daichi Makimura. For reasons she cannot entirely explain, she finds herself captivated by the simple, rhythmic way he twirls his pencil between his fingers. That fleeting observation sparks an undeniable curiosity, and from that moment on, Sumire begins to take a quiet but growing interest in him. Daichi, however, lives in an entirely different world. As a dedicated member of a renowned ice hockey team, his days are defined by athletic rigor and team commitments. Complicating his life further is a deeply guarded secret: he has long been in love with his childhood friend, Shouji. On the surface, Sumire and Daichi share absolutely nothing in common—one detached and observant, the other driven by sports and hidden heartache. Yet, despite their contrasting lives and circumstances, these two unlikely individuals find themselves gradually drawn together, slowly closing the distance between them in ways neither could have anticipated.
