Toji no Miko

For centuries, shrine maidens wielding sacred blades have served as humanity’s primary defense against aratama, malevolent entities that threaten the mortal realm. These elite warriors, known as Toji, operate under official government sanction as a specialized religious police unit authorized to carry swords in the line of duty. Recognizing their vital role in national security, the state has established five dedicated academies across Japan where these young women train and serve as sworn officials while maintaining the appearance of ordinary students. Within this unique dual existence, the Toji balance rigorous academic life with their solemn responsibilities as exorcists. Though they attend classes and participate in typical school activities, they remain ever-vigilant, ready to draw their weapons at a moment’s notice when supernatural threats emerge. Utilizing both traditional swordsmanship and extraordinary spiritual abilities, these student-officers confront dangerous anomalies to safeguard the public from unseen perils. Their story intertwines the mundane rhythms of adolescence with the high-stakes burden of protecting society, creating a compelling narrative where everyday school life exists alongside ancient mystical warfare and governmental duty.
