Summary

Official Details
Fourteen-year-old Machi has spent her entire life serving as a miko in the remote Touhoku Mountains of Japan. Having grown up far removed from contemporary society, she knows absolutely nothing about modern conveniences or urban living. However, she shares her secluded mountain home with an extraordinary companion: Natsu, a talking bear who has helped raise her. Despite her sheltered upbringing, Machi is deeply fascinated by the mysteries of the outside world and is fiercely determined to experience them for herself. Her ambition to leave the mountains and navigate the fast-paced environment of a modern city presents a significant challenge. Recognizing how unprepared she is for the complexities of urban life, Natsu takes it upon himself to guide her. He devises various trials and lessons intended to teach her the skills necessary to survive beyond their rural home. This comical coming-of-age story follows Machi’s endearing struggles as she attempts to bridge the gap between her traditional backwoods existence and the demands of the modern era. Through Natsu’s well-meaning but often humorous efforts to prepare her, the narrative explores the trials and tribulations of a young girl stepping out of her comfort zone and into the unknown.
