Bench

Transfer student Tsutomu Yamaguchi has just joined his new school’s baseball team, eager to pursue his athletic ambitions. However, he faces immediate physical challenges on the field. Carrying extra weight and lacking the speed required for competitive play, Yamaguchi quickly catches the attention of the coaching staff for all the wrong reasons. Rather than placing him among the talented starters, the coach assigns him to the "D" squad, effectively sidelining him from serious competition. The contrast between the rosters is stark. While the elite "A" team boasts an impressive lineup of star players and aces, the "D" team serves as a dumping ground for misfits and underdogs who have little hope of ever seeing actual game time. For most, this demotion would be the end of their athletic aspirations, but Yamaguchi refuses to let his circumstances dictate his future. Despite being surrounded by teammates who have resigned themselves to the bench, he holds tightly to his ultimate dream: becoming a professional second baseman. Through sheer determination, he resolves to push past his physical limitations and prove that even the lowest-ranked player can chase greatness.
