Akio’s everyday existence has long been sustained by the unwavering support of his closest friend, Ryousuke, a dedicated salaryman who has always dreamed of building a traditional family. For years, Akio has harbored deep romantic feelings for Ryousuke, yet he remains unable to voice them, bound by a painful secret rooted in an unresolved incident from two years ago. This unspoken history creates an invisible barrier between them, leaving Akio trapped in a cycle of longing and silence while relying entirely on Ryousuke’s steadfast presence. The fragile equilibrium shatters when Ryousuke’s fiancée abandons him just before their wedding, sending him into an emotional retreat where he begins to dote on Akio with even greater intensity. As Ryousuke pours his affection into his best friend, Akio is left tormented by uncertainty, wondering if he is merely serving as a substitute for the domestic future that slipped away. The narrative explores the complex tension between genuine care and displaced grief, questioning whether Ryousuke’s heightened devotion stems from true feeling or a desperate attempt to fill the void left by his lost marriage prospects.
