Dou Shiyou mo Nai Renjou

Tsurugi is an outgoing, sociable young man, while his childhood friend Kiyou has always been far more reserved. Despite their contrasting personalities, the two share a remarkably close bond. However, as time passes, Kiyou begins to realize that his feelings for Tsurugi have evolved into something much deeper than simple friendship. Terrified by this unexpected attraction and desperate to fit into society’s expectations of normalcy, Kiyou struggles internally to make sense of his emotions. The mounting pressure eventually takes its toll, pushing their once-solid relationship to a painful breaking point. In the aftermath of their falling out, Tsurugi vanishes entirely from Kiyou’s life. Left alone, Kiyou attempts to move forward, burying his conflicted emotions and striving to live the ordinary existence he always believed he was supposed to have. For a time, it seems he has successfully left the past behind. Yet, just as high school graduation approaches, Kiyou’s carefully constructed reality is suddenly shattered. Without warning or explanation, Tsurugi reappears, stepping back into his world with a casual ease that suggests nothing ever went wrong—leaving Kiyou stunned and forced to confront everything he tried so hard to forget.
