Kyoukotsu no Yume

Set in Tokyo during 1952, this manga adaptation of the third novel in Natsuhiko Kyogoku’s Kyougokudou Series explores the haunting question of whether souls linger as long as bones remain. A beautiful yet enigmatic woman, tormented by dark visions, confesses to murdering her former husband three separate times, while a nearby seaside town is simultaneously gripped by a series of bizarre and unsettling deaths. These four seemingly unrelated crimes are mysteriously connected through shared nightmares involving bones, blurring the line between supernatural phenomena and the terrifying depths of human psychology. The investigation brings together a distinctive team of sleuths previously featured in Ubume no Natsu and Mouryou no Hako to unravel this complex mystery. Onmyoudou practitioner Chuuzenji, horror novelist Sekiguchi, police inspector Kiba, psychic detective Enokizu, and journalist Atsuko must determine whether true demons reside in the spiritual realm or within the fractured human mind. As they navigate a labyrinth of sins and sorrows, the group confronts the possibility that some tragedies may be eternally bound to the physical remnants of the dead, challenging their understanding of guilt, memory, and existence itself.
