For as long as he can remember, Yuu Kaneko has called a quiet, isolated island home. Yet his deepest ambition is to escape its tranquil shores and immerse himself in the vibrant chaos of Tokyo. He dreams of leaving behind the simplicity of his rural life for the endless opportunities of the metropolis. However, before he ever gets the chance to depart, the serenity he once wished to abandon is violently destroyed by an inexplicable catastrophe. A mysterious infection sweeps through the island’s population, transforming Yuu’s neighbors into ravenous monsters who turn on one another with terrifying ferocity. The afflicted are no longer entirely human; they possess a horrifying regenerative ability that allows them to heal at unnatural speeds, effortlessly restoring severed limbs and shrugging off fatal wounds. Conventional methods prove useless against their relentless advance, and the horde of infected continues to multiply unchecked. As the nightmare consumes the island, the boundary between survival and extinction grows razor-thin. With the number of transformed residents swelling rapidly, Yuu finds himself trapped in the very place he desperately wanted to flee. Now, he and the dwindling few who remain uninfected must navigate a waking nightmare, searching for any possible way to endure when every path leads back to the monstrous horde.
