Kokonotsu Shikada finds himself caught between familial duty and personal ambition. His father runs a modest sweets shop in the countryside, fully expecting his son to eventually inherit the family business. Kokonotsu, however, has entirely different aspirations; he dreams of becoming a professional manga artist rather than spending his life selling traditional snacks in a quiet rural town. His peaceful summer is disrupted by the sudden arrival of Hotaru Shidare, an eccentric yet endearing young girl representing a highly renowned confectionery corporation. She has traveled to the countryside specifically to recruit Kokonotsu’s father, whose reputation in the sweets industry is far more impressive than his humble storefront suggests. Her family's company is eager to bring him on board, but the veteran shop owner refuses to leave his post unless his succession plans are secured. This sets the stage for an unusual ultimatum: Hotaru can only secure her target if she first convinces Kokonotsu to abandon his creative ambitions and take over the shop. What follows is a lighthearted battle of wills, as the determined visitor employs every tactic at her disposal to sway the reluctant heir, turning a lazy summer into an unexpected clash over candy, careers, and the future of the Shikada family legacy.
