I Promise to Return

Yuqian is widely regarded as the most formidable guardian the Underworld has ever produced, though his undeniable brilliance is often overshadowed by his insufferable arrogance. Recognizing that his overwhelming presence has become more of a burden than a blessing, the powers that be assign him an exclusive mission—one demanding the absolute best and conveniently sending him far from home. Tasked with tracking down a murderous demon, Yuqian crosses over into the human world to begin his hunt. There, he is forced to partner with Shuihua, a Daoist priest whose complexion is as pallid as a spirit's and whose temperament is equally unyielding. Rather than showing deference to the legendary guardian, Shuihua makes it his personal mission to highlight every flaw and mistake in Yuqian’s methods. Their journey quickly devolves into a relentless exchange of barbs and clashing egos as they pursue their dangerous quarry across the mortal realm. Yet, the path they walk is fraught with lethal threats that care nothing for their petty rivalries. As the stakes rise and the demonic forces close in, the two are pushed to their limits. Ultimately, the perilous nature of their quest may strip away their animosity, forcing them to depend on one another and revealing just how deeply they truly need each other to survive.
