Run, Bong-Gu, Run

Young Bong-Gu and his mother leave their quiet island home behind, traveling to the bustling capital city of Seoul with a single, urgent goal: to find his father. The man had journeyed to the city months earlier in search of work to support his family, but for the past six months, he has been completely unheard from. Driven by worry and desperation, mother and son embark on a daunting trip into the overwhelming metropolis, hoping to uncover what happened to him and reunite their fractured family. Upon arriving in Seoul, they navigate the crowded subway system, where the vastness of the unfamiliar city immediately makes its presence felt. During their ride, they encounter an elderly beggar, a brief interaction that highlights the stark realities of urban life far removed from their peaceful island. As they continue their search, Bong-Gu’s mother steps away momentarily to use a public phone, likely chasing leads or reaching out for any information regarding her missing husband. While she is occupied, the young boy finds a brief moment of childhood innocence, playing alongside a little girl he meets during their journey. Unbeknownst to them, the old beggar from the subway soon approaches and joins the children, quietly intertwining the fates of these strangers as Bong-Gu and his mother face the challenges of the sprawling city ahead.
