Saint Young Men

Two of history’s most revered spiritual figures have quietly taken up residence in modern-day Tokyo. After successfully guiding humanity through the turn of the previous century, Siddhartha Gautama, the Enlightened One, and Jesus Christ, the Son of God, have decided to take a well-deserved vacation on Earth. Rather than residing in heavenly realms, the two holy men share a modest apartment in the suburban city of Tachikawa, stepping away from their divine responsibilities to experience ordinary human life. Their earthly sabbatical quickly reveals a humorous contrast in their personalities as they navigate the mundane routines of daily living. Buddha approaches their shared finances with the meticulous frugality of a seasoned neighborhood homemaker, carefully watching every yen they spend. Jesus, on the other hand, frequently struggles with temptation at local shops, showing a distinct weakness for impulsive purchases that often tests his companion's patience. Together, this unlikely pair of roommates transforms the quiet streets of Tachikawa into the backdrop for a remarkably lighthearted existence. Far removed from the weight of scripture and salvation, their carefree days are filled with the simple, comedic challenges of budgeting, shopping, and cohabitation. Through it all, the saintliest duo imaginable discovers that enjoying a peaceful holiday on Earth comes with its own uniquely entertaining set of everyday trials.
