The Duke's Cursed Charm

Duke Carhel Luave is widely feared as the "devilish duke," burdened by an uncontrollable magical ability that forces anyone who meets his gaze to fall under his irresistible charm. Rather than serving as a gift, this power acts as a devastating curse, leaving him entirely isolated. Unable to form genuine bonds or trust those around him, Carhel longs for the simple warmth of authentic human connection. Meanwhile, his unnatural influence has provoked deep resentment among the nobility, prompting several rival houses to conspire in secret to strip him of his authority and power. During a decisive raid on the estate of one such enemy, Carhel inadvertently captures Lena, a humble maid serving the household. Deciding to grant her a merciful end, he attempts to use his enchanting abilities to ensure she passes away without suffering. However, the encounter takes a startling turn when his magic completely fails to affect her. For reasons unknown, Lena remains entirely immune to the duke's overwhelming charm, marking the first time in his life that someone stands before him unmanipulated and untouched by his cursed power.
