The King's Beast

In this unforgiving kingdom, the Ajin are treated as subhuman. Men are conscripted into brutal wars, women are forced into brothels, and those who survive to old age endure degrading labor. Boys born with magical abilities face a different fate: they are claimed by the imperial family to serve within the palace walls. When Rangetsu’s twin brother is taken to attend Prince Tenyou, his life ends abruptly in murder. Whispers point to the prince himself as the one who wielded the blade. Driven by grief and fury, Rangetsu disguises her true identity, abandoning her femininity to infiltrate the military and exact her revenge. After years of proving herself on the battlefield, she finally secures a position at Prince Tenyou’s side. However, the man she encounters defies her expectations, and the royal court proves far more treacherous than she anticipated. Caught in a venomous web of political intrigue, Rangetsu must navigate deadly schemes while wrestling with unexpected emotions toward her target. She must determine whether these feelings will become her greatest vulnerability or an unforeseen advantage before the palace consumes her entirely.
