Kagami-goshi no Milk Cake

Every day, a young man visits the same cafe, drawn not by the menu but by a girl he quietly admires from across the room. Rather than approaching her directly, he observes her through the subtle reflection cast in the cafe’s window glass. This mirrored vantage point becomes his secret method of connection, allowing him to study her habits without intruding on her space. Through this reflection, he begins to mirror her choices with meticulous care. Whenever she orders a specific dish or drink, he requests the exact same item. He even imitates the way she eats, adopting her mannerisms as though sharing an invisible, one-sided meal together. For him, these small acts of imitation are more than mere quirks; they represent a genuine effort to understand everything he can about the person who has captured his attention. Driven by the desire to know her better, his daily ritual slowly transforms quiet infatuation into mounting resolve. The reflections in the glass offer him comfort, but they also highlight the distance between them. Eventually, the weight of his unspoken feelings pushes him past the safety of his silent observations. Gathering every ounce of courage he possesses, he prepares to step away from the window's reflection and finally confess his feelings to her directly.
