According to Sakuragi Ryo, every high school operates on a strict three-tier social hierarchy. The "A" rank is reserved for the most attractive, intelligent, and athletic students who naturally dominate the spotlight. The "B" rank comprises the unremarkable majority, while those in the "C" rank are largely ignored by everyone else. During middle school, Ryo was reluctantly thrust into the elite "A" tier, forced to endure an exhausting lifestyle he never wanted. Now entering high school, he is determined to blend into the background as a firmly average "B" rank student, hoping for nothing more than a quiet and uneventful youth. However, his carefully laid plans unravel one evening after classes end. Ryo stumbles upon three delinquents cornering a girl, and despite his desire to remain uninvolved, her desperate situation compels him to step in. To his dismay, the girl he rescues turns out to be the most beautiful student in his entire high school, and she immediately insists on repaying him for his bravery. With the attention of the campus now threatening to pull him back into the spotlight, Ryo must go to extraordinary lengths to deflect any unwanted fame and protect his peaceful existence within the "B" ranks.
