Mahoutsukai no Neko

Fourteen-year-old Rio is an unassuming boy defined by a single, consuming passion: his love for books. Socially awkward and often dismissed as eccentric by his peers, he stands in stark contrast to his twin brother, Mao. While the two share identical faces, their personalities are worlds apart. Mao excels at everything he attempts, enjoys widespread popularity, and dreams of one day raising a large, happy family. Despite these profound differences, the brothers share an unbreakable bond. That bond is shattered when Rio steps into traffic to rescue a stray cat and is struck by a car before his twin’s eyes. As consciousness slips away, a mysterious voice pierces the darkness, offering him a simple choice between life and death. Desperate to survive, Rio chooses to live—unaware that this decision carries unforeseen consequences. He awakens not in a hospital, but in an unfamiliar realm populated by strange creatures and foreign people. Most shockingly, he discovers he has been reborn in the body of a black cat. In this new world, felines are not mere animals; they are deeply revered for serving as magical familiars to wizards. Stripped of his human form, Rio must now navigate a fantastical society where his very existence holds extraordinary significance.
