Toaru Hikuushi e no Tsuioku

Charles is a skilled mercenary pilot serving within the Levamme Imperial Air Force, but his latest assignment is far from an ordinary military operation. He receives a classified directive that demands the impossible: navigate twelve thousand kilometers across open ocean, flying directly through the heart of hostile territory to safely escort a princess back to the mainland. The stakes are absolute, and failure means certain death for both him and his precious cargo. To protect Princess Fana, Charles must push his aircraft and his own limits to the breaking point. Along their perilous journey, they face relentless assaults from devastating squadrons of enemy fighters and overwhelming naval fleets. Every mile traveled brings new dangers, forcing the orphaned pilot into desperate aerial combat against insurmountable odds just to keep them alive. Yet, the most dangerous challenge may not be the enemy forces hunting them, but the quiet bond forming inside the cockpit. As they endure the harrowing crossing together, a forbidden love blossoms between a common soldier with no family and a royal girl bound by an unchangeable destiny. Ranked tenth in the 2009 edition of "Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi!", this story weaves thrilling aerial warfare with a poignant romance destined to defy the boundaries of class and fate.
