Record Journey

Now available in English for the first time, Record Journey is a beautifully crafted collection of short stories by Ryoichiro Kezuka that examines the profound relationship between music, memory, and daily life. Set against the backdrop of a modest record shop in Tokyo, the narrative centers on a young woman who tends to the store and its steady stream of patrons. Rather than simply selling vinyl, she serves as a quiet observer of the deeply personal histories carried through her doors by every customer. Each story introduces a new visitor seeking out a specific record, driven by a unique past and an emotional thread waiting to be unraveled. As the needle drops on their chosen albums, the invisible barriers between strangers begin to dissolve. Through these intimate encounters, the manga reveals bittersweet memories, long-lost connections, and the gentle, restorative power of sound. Kezuka weaves these individual journeys into a cohesive exploration of how music can bridge the gaps between people, offering solace and understanding in the most unexpected moments.
